Silica
Crystalline silica dust, measured and controlled. Respirable crystalline silica is the industry's next asbestos: invisible, cumulative and now tightly regulated. Cutting, grinding or demolishing concrete, brick and engineered stone without controls is no longer an option.
The discipline
How this work is done properly
Respirable crystalline silica is subject to a workplace exposure standard under the WHS Regulation, with specific duties for high-risk crystalline silica work. That means assessment before work, engineered controls during it, and monitoring to prove the controls hold.
We assess silica-generating works, build the control plans, deliver the removal or processing scopes under those controls, and verify the result, as a standalone engagement or inside a demolition program.
Scope of services
Silica services
Structured the way the industry structures it. Each scope is a defined discipline with its own controls and documentation.
Silica Risk Assessment
Exposure assessment against the WES
Assessment of silica-generating works against the workplace exposure standard, identifying high-risk crystalline silica work and the duties that follow from it.
Control Plans & Engineering
Wet cutting, extraction, RPE regimes
Silica control plans built around engineered controls: wet methods, on-tool extraction, ventilation and respiratory protection programs that keep crystalline silica work compliant and crews protected.
Controlled Silica Works
Cutting, grinding and removal under controls
Delivery of concrete and masonry cutting, grinding and removal scopes under the control plan, with the documentation to show the controls were in place and working.
Air Monitoring
Exposure monitoring and verification
Air monitoring during silica works with appropriately qualified occupational hygiene support, verifying exposures stay under the standard.
